Meet Dr. Justin Slager

Dr. Justin Slager moved to Cookeville with his wife and two daughters in 2015 after serving as a dentist in the United States Air Force. Dr. Slager hails from Michigan but has quickly come to call Tennessee home and is actively involved in Young Life, The River Church, and Highland Rim Academy. His compassionate approach to dentistry will leave you feeling cared for and listened to.

Dr. Slager is in constant pursuit of dental excellence. To provide the best possible care for his patients, he has completed over 1,500 hours of dental continuing education. This commitment allows him to stay at the forefront of the industry, constantly adding advanced techniques and technologies to his skill set.

A Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry

Earning Fellowship takes immense dedication to dental continuing education (CE) beyond graduation. Only about 6 percent of general dentists in the U.S. and Canada are AGD Fellows. When you see a dentist who is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, you can rest assured that they care about knowing the latest techniques and best practices in dentistry. AGD Fellows practice these techniques in a classroom setting multiple times a year—not every dentist does this.

To become an AGD Fellow, a dentist must:

  • Complete over 500 credit hours of CE (Dr. Slager has tripled this requirement).
  • Earn 350 of those credits in live courses.
  • Pass an exam equal in difficulty to board certification exams.

Kois Center Graduate

After countless hours and many flights to Seattle over the last 5 years, Dr. Slager has completed the Kois Center Continuum, an advanced post-graduate program in dentistry.

While most dental training covers routine care like cleanings, fillings, and crowns, some issues are far more complex—worn or broken teeth, missing teeth, gum and bone loss, bite problems, and full-mouth restorations. The Kois continuum is world-renowned for equipping dentists to handle these challenging cases using the latest science and techniques for results that are predictable, durable, and natural-looking.

By finishing this program, Dr. Slager joins the 1% of dentists who have accomplished this—bringing this life-changing knowledge back to the patients of Cookeville.
